Showcase of the Stars™
MFHA has been making the business case for diversity & inclusion in the restaurant, foodservice and hospitality industry since 1996. One of our primary goals is to promote the industry as a great place to work or pursue business opportunities. Showcase of the Stars™ (aka Showcase) was launched in 2000 to support this objective. Since the first event held in Chicago, Showcase has consistently delivered valuable career advice to nearly twenty thousand students, through the inspiring success stories shared by guest panelists, or “Stars”. These “Stars” represent MFHA’s leading corporate members.
- To communicate the vital message for students to stay in school, aim high and believe in their dreams.
- To convey the idea that hospitality careers offer a quality of life and excellent earning potential.
- To demonstrate that diversity is valued and needed in our industry.
Motivated by the continued success of Showcase, MFHA is committed to continue delivering the program to more venues around the United States.
What makes Showcase of the Stars™ an ideal event?
In today’s changing marketplace, it is even more important to share stories of career opportunity directly with millennials and those who make up the majority of the workforce. The Showcase event provides a controlled venue for direct, more personal interaction with the students and display prominent branding.
Showcase of the Stars™ educates, motivates, and inspires students to want to do better in school and to value career education. By attending, students gain direct access to the best employers in our industry and hear them advocate career opportunities first-hand. Careers that offer a quality of life, excellent earning potential, and demonstrate that diversity is valued and needed in our industry.
Educators become instrumental in enhancing the multicultural learning experience in their classrooms by way of endorsement and participation.
Showcase of the Stars™ is executed in a panel format with four to six industry professionals who represent different segments of the industry. The panelists or “Stars” are seated on stage in an auditorium or theater-like venue and answer questions from the moderator and the students who may be seated theater style or at round tables.
The primary audience for Showcase: minority high school and college students.
